Diversity, equity, and inclusion at Dojo

From local bakeries to well-known eateries, Dojo payments serve over 140,000 places across the UK.

And something that’s fundamental to creating relevant, innovative products at Dojo is to build teams to reflect the diversity of the businesses we serve.

Our drive to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion is closely linked to helping employees thrive and innovating for better customer experiences.

If you care about your work, you’re curious, and you think customer-first, you have a place at Dojo.

To make sure you’re the best you can be throughout the recruitment process, let us know if you need any extra adjustments to help you thrive.

The Role

We are looking for a Principal People Partner to join our team, reporting to the Director of People and Talent. You will be a trusted strategic partner and coach to our most senior leaders in our Technology, Data and Product organisation based in London.

Your overall goal?

Provide expert advice, challenge, guidance and support to enable our senior leaders to lead their business and teams through growth and change.

You’ll be a part of the Senior Leadership team for Data, Product and Tech. You’ll understand the critical business priorities, build organisational and leadership capability, and engage senior leaders and centres of expertise to identify and deliver People initiatives that support the business as it continues to scale-up whilst fostering our unique culture.

You’ll always adopt a people-centric and inclusive approach.  Our people are our customers, and as a people partner you help to foster belonging and engagement for everyone.  At Dojo, we constantly iterate - listening closely to our customers and making improvements based on their feedback. That’s no different with our people internally.

What you will do …

  • Partner with senior leaders on to organisational design and effectiveness, key people priorities and leadership development.
  • Advice, coach and challenge senior leader to expand their people leadership mindset, skills and behaviours
  • Use people data (e.g. engagement survey, DEI data, performance data, attrition metrics or qualitative data) to proactively identify opportunities and problems, and work together with senior leaders and People Centre of excellence to formulate and implement solutions and measure their impact.
  • Support our leaders on key People processes, e.g. engagement survey feedback, promo cycles, talent reviews
  • Manage ER cases involving senior employees
  • Be a leader in the People team - Support People Partner colleagues and provide leadership for our People Advisor
  • Support on any other people team work streams and ad hoc projects as needed

What you will bring…

  • Strong experience in a strategic HR role, working directly with senior-level leaders in technology, data or product
  • Forward-thinking relationship builder, coach and advisor, willing and confident to challenge the status quo or a people leader’s approach!
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills to help you design and deliver people initiatives  which align to the business goals and continuously evaluate priorities and act accordingly
  • Experience from a mid-large business with 1500+ employees - you need to have experience of what great looks like.
  • Strong understanding of org design in a tech function
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a fast paced environment - not all of our problems are defined, nor all our processes built out and things change quickly
  • A practical ‘hands on’ approach and happy to roll up your sleeves
  • High curiosity and are a self starter, with a proactive can-do attitude.
  • Strong HR expertise,  preferably a relevant HR degree or Chartered CIPD qualified
  • Experience in a fast-growth scale up would be great, but isn’t a must!

Dojo from the get-go

First launch was back in 2009. So with over 15 years in the payments industry, we’ve got a story to tell.

Dojo is built to soothe customer and consumer pain points across the world for over 140,000 customers.

And today, there’s over 1,200 of us in multiple locations across the UK, Ireland, Spain, and Italy.

Our mission is to empower businesses to thrive in the experience economy by creating the tools and tech that turns transactions into meaningful relationships.

We do that through sophisticated EPOS payments integrations, fast transactions, hospitality bookings, and a strong consumer restaurant app.

Question: what’s curious, relentless, and customer obsessed?

If you’re keen to know the answer, you’re a third of the way to meeting our Dojo values.

If the following speak to you, let’s talk:

  • You’re curious. You have a real desire to learn and create.
  • You’re relentless. You keep going even when it’s easier not to.
  • You’re customer-obsessed. You know how important customers are to what you do.

Dojo home and away

We love collaboration. We have offices across Europe – that takes some dynamism.

Long-distance calls are a must, but we’ve always valued in-person work when it’s possible, especially meetings. We aim for asynchronous communication when we can though.

Don’t like rules? Nor do we. We avoid top-down policies – it’s all about teams having the power to fuel their success.

At Dojo, you’re trusted to judge what you see and make the call in the best interest of our customers.
