First launch was back in 2009. So with over 15 years in the payments industry, we’ve got a story to tell.
Dojo is built to soothe customer and consumer pain points across the world for over 140,000 customers.
And today, there’s over 1000 of us in multiple locations across the UK, Ireland, Spain, and Italy.
Our mission is to empower businesses to thrive in the experience economy by creating the tools and tech that turn transactions into meaningful relationships.
We do that through sophisticated EPOS payments integrations, fast transactions, hospitality bookings, and a strong consumer restaurant app.
The role
At Dojo, the Platform team builds the foundation that enables teams to move faster and innovate with confidence. We provide self-serve capabilities and scalable tools that empower teams to work autonomously, eliminate bottlenecks, and drive efficiency. By streamlining access to essential infrastructure and services, we accelerate the ability of teams to deliver value to our customers quickly and at scale.
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Team Lead who is passionate about people leadership and cultivating high-performing teams. In this role, you will guide and mentor a team of talented engineers, empowering them to excel both technically and professionally while creating an environment where collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning thrive. Your leadership will focus on developing and supporting your team, ensuring they are engaged, motivated, and aligned with business goals. You will champion best practices, facilitate career growth, and cultivate a culture of psychological safety where engineers feel confident experimenting and pushing boundaries.
Beyond team leadership, you will also play a critical role in delivering scalable, user-friendly products and frameworks that enhance developer productivity and system resiliency. Your ability to connect technical vision with people development will be key to making a lasting impact across the engineering organisation.
What you will do...
Lead and inspire a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous growth while providing mentorship and career development support.
Shape the future of developer enablement, driving the adoption of tools and frameworks that simplify access to centralised infrastructure empowering creators to build with speed and confidence in collaboration with our Staff Platform Engineers.
Optimise engineering workflows, by establishing clear processes for managing ongoing maintenance, operational tasks, and long-term projects, ensuring the right balance between sustaining reliability and driving innovation. This includes refining capacity planning, managing on-call rotations, and streamlining incident response.
Collaborate across teams, working closely with engineers and stakeholders to align platform capabilities with business needs and maximise impact across the organisation.
Stay at the cutting edge, exploring and advocating for modern infrastructure practices, cloud-native technologies, and industry best practices to push the boundaries of developer experience.
What you will bring...
A proven track record of leading and developing high-performing engineering teams, providing mentorship, support, and opportunities for growth.
Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices, system design, cloud infrastructure, and expertise in automated deployments through declarative configurations, leveraging modern strategies such as GitOps or blue-green deployments.
Experience and empathy of a backend engineer building applications within a service orientated architecture in Golang, Java or .Net.
Expertise in platform engineering, including Kubernetes, distributed systems like Kafka, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or Crossplane.
A deep understanding of developer experience, with a focus on improving workflows, reducing cognitive load, and enabling faster feedback loops.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to advocate for technical solutions and drive adoption across diverse teams.
Dojo home and away
We believe our best work happens when we collaborate in-person. These “together days” foster communication, drive innovation and spark our brightest ideas.
That's why we have an office-first culture. This means working from the office 4+ days per week.
With offices across Europe, we know a thing or two about staying dynamic. Need deep focus? Head to a quiet zone. Big ideas? Collaboration spaces have you covered. Just here for a catch-up? Our social hubs make it easy. Do work that counts, in spaces made for you.
