We’re reinventing payments.
In less than four years, Dojo disrupted the market to become the largest and most loved acquirer in the UK. Our payments infrastructure, purpose-built for in-person commerce, is game changing.

Now, over 150,000 customers across four countries choose to transact billions with us every year.
But we’re just getting started.

Our people are the driving force behind our success. They are our greatest investment and our ultimate competitive advantage. We hire exceptional people and give them the autonomy, trust, and ownership to thrive. The results take care of themselves.

The Role

The Irish market is a high-growth, core pillar of Dojo’s European operations. As one of our Irish Market Underwriters, you will be the expert shielding Dojo from fraud, financial crime, and credit risks across our rapidly scaling merchant portfolio. This is a high-impact individual contributor role where your sharp insight ensures a secure, commercially viable onboarding journey for all customers. You will manage complex cases and high-volume applications, partnering directly with our UK and International Risk teams to maximise growth while operating strictly within our defined risk appetite.

What you will do…
  • Comprehensive Risk Assessment and Proposition Variety:
    - Conduct thorough credit and acquiring risk assessments across our diverse merchant portfolio (from SMEs to complex Enterprise-level propositions).
    - You'll analyse financial health and exposure, ensuring all decisions mitigate risk and adhere to card scheme rules, regulatory requirements, and Dojo's internal risk appetite as well as evaluating underlying acquiring exposure.
  • Operational Excellence and Stakeholder Engagement:
    - Efficiently process high-risk applications and service requests within strict SLAs. You’ll partner proactively with Commercial teams to maximise onboarding opportunities by delivering robust, risk-managed solutions, managing escalations, and advocating for sound risk practices.
    - Collaborate with Legal on an ad-hoc basis for high-risk applications, assisting with the negotiation and review of bespoke contracts and security arrangements.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Market Intelligence
    - Drive compliant onboarding by performing thorough KYC/KYB verification (ownership, identity, compliance screening) to ensure strict adherence to Irish and EU financial regulations for all new merchants.
    - Actively contribute to developing and documenting underwriting policies and processes, using your market intelligence to incorporate evolving industry trends and regulatory changes (CBI, EU directives) into our Irish risk framework.
What you will bring...
  • Relevant Experience: Proven experience in an underwriting or financial risk analysis role within a financial institution, ideally with a high volume of varied small to medium-sized business propositions.
  • Payments Industry Knowledge & Irish Market Experience (Highly Desirable): An understanding of risks within the payments industry and knowledge of the Irish financial services market is highly beneficial.
  • Analytical & Decision-Making: Exceptional ability to assess a diverse range of financial and non-financial data points to identify risks and make confident, well-reasoned underwriting decisions that balance risk and commercial growth.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex underwriting decisions to internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: A balanced perspective that prioritises effective risk management while maintaining a friction-free and positive experience for the merchant.
  • Collaborative Mindset: A proactive team player who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, focused on continuous learning and achieving shared goals.

Dojo home and away

We believe our best work happens when we collaborate in-person. These “together days” foster communication, drive innovation and spark our brightest ideas.

That's why we have an office-first culture. This means working from the office 4+ days per week.

With offices across Europe, we know a thing or two about staying dynamic. Need deep focus? Head to a quiet zone. Big ideas? Collaboration spaces have you covered. Just here for a catch-up? Our social hubs make it easy. Do work that counts, in spaces made for you.

Question: what’s curious, relentless, and customer obsessed?

  • You’re curious. You have a real desire to learn and create.
  • You’re relentless. You keep going even when it’s easier not to.
  • You’re customer-obsessed. You know how important customers are to what you do.
