We’re reinventing payments.
In less than four years, Dojo disrupted the market to become the largest and most loved acquirer in the UK. Our payments infrastructure, purpose-built for in-person commerce, is game changing.

Now, over 150,000 customers across four countries choose to transact billions with us every year.
But we’re just getting started.

Our people are the driving force behind our success. They are our greatest investment and our ultimate competitive advantage. We hire exceptional people and give them the autonomy, trust, and ownership to thrive. The results take care of themselves.

The role

We are looking for a smart, ambitious, driven Legal Counsel to support Dojo’s continued expansion across Europe. This is a broad, hands-on role, which will suit someone who  is curious, pragmatic and is happy to get involved in the business, whether that involves reviewing  contracts, carrying out regulatory research, supporting market launches or helping to improve existing processes. You will be a member of our Legal team, reporting directly to our Senior Legal Counsel in Dublin and working closely with the group Legal and Compliance team, and the wider business in London, Spain and Italy.

What you will do...

  • Work with the Legal team and wider business on a broad range of commercial contract negotiations and issues across Europe

  • Review and update our commercial contracts, working closely with internal stakeholders

  • Support ongoing due diligence of business partners and outsourcing and ICT arrangements

  • Undertake legal research and analysis of existing and upcoming regulation in France and other European countries, particularly in the areas of financial regulation and AML.

  • Provide regulatory advice to European and UK stakeholders on European regulation.

  • Assist with localization of European customer terms and conditions, including any specific requirements for European countries, in particular France.

  • Undertake research and analysis of legal issues raised by the business.

  • Support the Legal team with ad-hoc projects arising from new products, regulatory change and market expansion.

What you will bring...

  • European-qualified lawyer (3-5 PQE) with experience in the commercial contracts, corporate and financial services work, ideally gained in private practice

  • In-house secondment experience would be an advantage, but not essential.

  • An interest in working within an e-money and payments business, ideally with some exposure to merchant acquiring or regulated services

  • Strong interest in technology, innovation and building scalable solutions

  • A collaborative, approachable mindset, with the ability to build effective working relationships across the business

  • An analytical approach, with the ability to understand complex legal issues and explain them clearly and practically to non-lawyers

  • A pragmatic, commercial and solutions-focused attitude, with willingness to get involved and take ownership

  • Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environment where priorities may shift and roles are not narrowly defined

Dojo home and away

We believe our best work happens when we collaborate in-person. These “together days” foster communication, drive innovation and spark our brightest ideas.

That's why we have an office-first culture. This means working from the office 4+ days per week.

With offices across Europe, we know a thing or two about staying dynamic. Need deep focus? Head to a quiet zone. Big ideas? Collaboration spaces have you covered. Just here for a catch-up? Our social hubs make it easy. Do work that counts, in spaces made for you.

Question: what’s curious, relentless, and customer obsessed?

If you’re keen to know the answer, you’re a third of the way to meeting our Dojo values.

If the following speak to you, let’s talk:

  • You’re curious. You have a real desire to learn and create.
  • You’re relentless. You keep going even when it’s easier not to.
  • You’re customer-obsessed. You know how important customers are to what you do.
